Aston Villa’s North Stand redevelopment has reached one of its clearest milestones yet, with almost the entire roof now removed from Villa Park.
Fresh drone footage shows contractors using a large crane to lift one of the final steel roof trusses away from the historic structure.
Workers cut the truss free while suspended above the stand before it was carefully lowered into the construction area.
Only the pitch-side edge of the old roof appears to remain, leaving the North Stand dramatically more exposed than it was only a few weeks ago.
The development follows Aston Villa’s official confirmation of an accelerated construction plan, which included removing the roof and retaining parts of the existing structure.

The latest footage also provides a wider view of demolition, foundation and terracing work taking place across the site.
Villa have closed the North Stand for the entire 2026/27 campaign to complete the most disruptive phase within a single season.
The closure will reduce Villa Park’s temporary capacity to just over 37,000. Once the redevelopment is complete, the stadium will hold more than 50,000 supporters.
Expanded seating will be joined by improved hospitality, media and supporter facilities. New first-team changing, medical and physiotherapy areas also form part of the project.

Completion is planned before the beginning of the 2027/28 season, giving Villa Park time to prepare for its role as a UEFA Euro 2028 host venue.
Removing almost the entire roof is primarily a demolition milestone. It also provides supporters with the strongest visual indication yet of how significantly their home is changing.
The finished North Stand remains more than a year away, but the old structure is rapidly disappearing.
