Unai Emery has now taken charge of 200 Aston Villa matches, reaching another major milestone during Saturday’s 0-0 Premier League draw at Hull City.
The result itself was frustrating, with Villa’s ongoing scoring problems dominating the discussion in our reaction to Emery’s post-match comments.
However, the landmark offers an opportunity to step back and examine the remarkable Unai Emery Aston Villa record since his appointment in October 2022.
Sky Sports confirmed that the Hull match was Emery’s 200th in charge.
Across those 200 games, Emery has overseen 109 victories, 35 draws and 56 defeats, giving the Spaniard an overall win rate of 54.5 per cent.

Emery’s Villa record now stands at:
- Games: 200

That explains why the current winless Premier League start feels so disappointing.
Villa have taken only one point from their opening three matches and remain without a league goal after the Hull stalemate, although our Aston Villa xG analysis showed a considerable improvement in chance creation compared with the defeats to Brighton and Arsenal.
Emery now faces another sizeable challenge after overseeing one of the biggest squad rebuilds of his reign.
The manager himself had already demanded higher standards from his players after the transfer window closed.
His 201st game offers an immediate opportunity to respond.
