Unai Emery has done a decent job at Aston Villa. He is set to face Barcelona next in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Hansi Flick has praised Unai Emery ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League meeting with Aston Villa, describing the Spaniard as one of the best managers in world football.

Barcelona welcome Aston Villa to the Nou Camp looking to build on their weekend victory against Alaves. Flick’s side had suffered consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid before responding with an emphatic 6-1 win. However, the German manager knows his team face a difficult challenge against Emery’s side.

Hansi Flick impressed with Unai Emery and Aston Villa

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Flick was full of praise for the work Unai Emery has done at Villa Park.

“I said before that he is one of the best coaches in Europe and the world.

“He is very successful. In the way his team plays, you can see a clear structure, and in offence, they have different patterns.

“For me, it is amazing to see his team. The start was not easy, but they came back.”

Aston Villa endured a difficult opening to the season but have recovered their form under Emery. They currently sit second in the UCL League phase table with a perfect 9 points from 3 games.

Barcelona boss wary of Nicolas Jackson threat

Hansi Flick also singled out Nicolas Jackson, who has been in excellent form since arriving at Villa Park. The striker’s recent performances have made him an important part of Emery’s attacking plans.

“You can see the confidence they have on the ball, how they play out, and (Nicolas) Jackson is at an unbelievable level.

“For us, it will be a tough game against a good team and, as well, a great coach.”

Barcelona will need to be at their best against Villa, with Flick expecting a difficult evening against a Villa side, managed by one of the best manager in the world.
