Aston Villa have Morgan Sanson and Marvelous Nakamba at their disposal, but Steven Gerrard has made it clear that he wants to sign a defensive-midfielder this summer. One player on their radar is Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips, a dynamic midfielder who’s adept at turning over possession and protecting his backline. The 26-year-old has an asking […]
Aston Villa would love to sign Philippe Coutinho on a permanent deal this summer after how well he’s performed since joining on loan from Barcelona in January, but the 29-year-old will have to take a sizeable wage cut to complete the €40m (£33.6m) move. Villa are paying Coutinho £125k-per-week for the remainder of his loan […]
Phillipe Coutinho has impressed since joining Aston Villa on a short-term loan in January and could join the club permanently if his €40m (£33.6m) buying option is triggered before June. Frank McAvennie believes the ‘brilliant’ Coutinho ‘will want to stay’ as he’s been outstanding in the midlands. The 29-year-old fell out of favour at Barcelona […]
Philippe Coutinho has impressed since joining Aston Villa on loan from Barcelona and could turn the move permanent at the end of the season, but Paul Merson doesn’t believe the 29-year-old will be signed in the coming months. Coutinho has scored two goals and made two assists from six games, creating eight chances, making nine […]
Ezri Konsa has an uncertain future at Aston Villa as Steven Gerrard is reportedly unhappy with the 24-year-old’s consistency this season, but Paul Merson came to his defence and was full of praise. Konsa has been a regular alongside Tyrone Mings and helped the Villans keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Brighton […]
Ollie Watkins scored in Aston Villa’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion to end a six-game goal drought in the Premier League, but it masks what has been a disappointing season for the 26-year-old. Watkins scored 14 goals with five assists from 37 league games last season (one goal contribution per 1.94 games) but […]
Ezri Konsa has an uncertain future at Aston Villa, with Football Insider revealing in February that Steven Gerrard will listen to offers for the 24-year-old this summer. Konsa has been a regular alongside Tyrone Mings at centre-back and was knocking on the door of the England national team, but it appears he could now be […]
Philippe Coutinho enjoyed a bright start to life at Aston Villa after joining on loan from Barcelona, but he’s not made as much of an impact in recent weeks. Matt Targett has an uncertain future at Aston Villa after falling out of favour under Steven Gerrard, being replaced with a new left-back and being loaned out to Newcastle United. The 26-year-old was a regular for Villa in the first half of the season but suffered from inconsistency which led the club to sign his […]
Despite having Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson at their disposal, Aston Villa tried to sign a defensive-midfielder in January and were unsuccessful. The Midlands outfit were linked with Boubacar Kamara and Yves Bissouma last month but made little progress with either man. Paul Robinson says they shouldn’t give up on Bissouma, however, as he’s a […]
Kortney Hause has an uncertain future at Aston Villa, as he’s spent the season on the bench and appears to have fallen further down the pecking order since Calum Chambers joined from Arsenal in January. The 26-year-old has made only 9/28 appearances in all competitions this campaign, featuring only three times in the Premier League […]
Aston Villa are ninth in the Premier League for shots conceded per game (13), 13th in the league for goals conceded (37) and joint-eighth in the league for clean sheets, so the defence needs to improve if a top-six finish is to become a reality. With the Villans 12th in the table and 15 points […]
