Aston Villa sacked Tim Sherwood at the weekend, after the narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea. A few weeks ago, there was rumours around social media, stating that Sherwood has to win one of the two games against Chelsea or Swansea, or else he’s dismissed from the job. That has led to be true, after losing both of those games, and concluding to six straight defeats for Aston Villa, in the Premier League. Villa have now plummeted to the bottom of the table, after Sunderland’s victory over rivals Newcastle, and whoever comes in, has a huge task at hand, to keep Villa from avoiding relegation this season.
Ex Villa manager Tim Sherwood expressed his disappointment of being relieved of his duties at Aston Villa. Sherwood states how tough the job was always going to be, but also spoke on how proud he was, to take the Villa side all the way to the FA Cup Final, and lead Villa out at Wembley twice.

Sherwood released a statement via the League Managers’ Association following his departure from Villa Park.
“I am very disappointed that I will not be able to carry on in my role as manager of Aston Villa. I knew when I took on the role that it would be a big challenge, but it proved to be one I greatly enjoyed and I know I have learned a lot from this experience. Obviously, the initial priority was to stay in the Premier League, but beating Liverpool in the FA Cup semi at Wembley and then leading the team out for the Final was an achievement and experience that I will treasure for the rest of my career.
Sherwood also appreciates and thanks everyone involved at the club, including coaching staff, staff and the fans. He wishes the Villans well for the future, and they may need it, as the Villans haven’t won in the league since the opening day of the season, at Bournemouth.
“I’d like to thank my coaching staff and the staff throughout the club for their dedication, the Villa fans for their passionate support and the players, who gave everything during my time at the club. I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season and indeed for the future.”
