Wolves lack consistency; everyone who understands football and has seen them play can attest to this fact. Whether or not they can deliver in the long run remains to be seen. What is undeniable is the excitement surrounding Walter Zenga. People are definitely going to factor him in when looking at the betting lines.
Not everyone was on board with the excitement surrounding Zenga’s appointment as new head coach, not because they necessarily thought he was bad. Rather, there was skepticism that he would bring nearly as much change as everyone seems to expect.
And that level of skepticism cannot be so easily ignored; Wolves are hardly the worst team around. However, they most definitely need the help, more than most teams, in fact, when you take into account all the potential they have shown in recent games.
One of the most vocal supporters of Walter Zenga has been Rob Edwards. The first-team coach, Edwards has set his eyes on a run of form starting at West Midlands rivals Villa. Edwards has his work cut out for him preparing for that particular game.
Even setting the rivalry between Wolves and Aston Villa aside, Edwards has a relatively intimate connection to Aston villa. Some people might not remember that Edwards actually came through the youth System at Villa Park and can probably credit that system for giving him the opportunities that have come his way over the years.
If Edwards wants to make a statement, especially with regards to his ability as a leader, he needs to bring Villa to their knees; the goal for Edwards at the moment isn’t to merely defeat Villa, though.
Edwards would love to string a series of wins together; his first professional club is merely the first stop on his journey to achieving his goal. There is still some time before that Derby, though.
Edwards has spent the summer maneuvering a steep learning curve since Zenga arrived. Edwards is enjoying Zenga’s presence and he has expressed a lot of appreciation for the new head coach’s approach.
He has been working to pick up all the different things Zenga brings to the table, and he seems to bring a lot of thought and consideration to the table, especially when it comes to the details of the training sessions and even the games.
Zenga is very focused, paying close attention to the opposition and trying to understand every threat they might pose; he has also worked to understand his own team and how it typically performs in the average game, this allowing him to fashion training sessions that will best suit the team, assisting them to put together a winning game plan for the weekend.
Edwards has agreed with everything Zenga has done so far; there is a clear thought process that goes into every decision that Zenga makes and Edwards clearly likes the change.
Edwards agrees with critics that the wolves must increase their consistency; this is the only way they can become promotion contenders in the new season. They have delivered a few impressive performances against teams like Reading and Huddersfield, but rarely have they truly impressed audiences and analysts.
Edwards seems to believe in Zenga’s ability to transform the team.
