Aston Villa have been handed a fresh transfer signal around Morgan Rogers after Arsenal widened their search for attacking midfield reinforcements.
The Times reports that Arsenal have held preliminary talks with representatives of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen the Premier League champions.
The development lands days after The Guardian reported that Rogers had been identified as Arsenal’s No.1 summer target.
Villa Price Stance Still Defines Rogers Race
For Villa, the message is clear: Arsenal are not working a single-track market.
That does not remove the danger around Rogers, but it does give Unai Emery’s side more context as they assess how far the London club are willing to go.
Rogers’ value has been sharpened by his England role, his output under Emery and the scarcity of forwards who can operate centrally or from the left.
Read Aston Villa has already covered the £100m question facing Villa over Rogers, and that figure still feels like the line Arsenal must attack rather than merely admire.
The Athletic has also reported that Arsenal’s interest in Christos Tzolis would not impact their pursuit of Rogers or another attacking target. That reinforces the wider point: Arsenal are building options, not walking away.
Villa do not need a quick concession. If Arsenal’s midfield talks are designed to create leverage, Villa’s response should be just as firm.
Rogers is a premium asset, not a discounted route into Emery’s core.
