Both sides are struggling with a few injuries to some key players, but let’s start with the hosts who are unbeaten at the Madejski Stadium this season.
Jaap Stam will be without defender Paul McShane for the match. The Republic of Ireland international picked up a hamstring injury during the international break and is not expected to feature.
Defender Jake Cooper and forward Yakou Meite remain sidelined for the Royals as they continue to recover from their respective ankle injuries.

As for Aston Villa, Bruce could be forced to make a change at the back after Tommy Elphick limped off against Wolves with a calf injury. It’s unexpected whether the club captain will be fit for this one, but don’t hold your breath.
Micah Richards is in a similar boat after he came off injured in the same game. Alan Hutton and Nathan Baker remain fit and ready should they get the call to fill-in.
