Leeds United have shown an interest in Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone according to the Daily Mail, however Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has said that re-signing the 24-year-old is his “top priority”.
The shot-stopper went on loan to Villa in the January transfer window, making 22 appearances and keeping eight clean sheets, despite a rather shaky start.
The race to sign Johnstone has begun to hot up, with Sunderland, Watford and Everton also reportedly holding interest, however The Toffees are likely to pull out of the race, after it emerged they had reached a deal to sign Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford for about £30 million.
Johnstone became a fans favourite at Villa Park during his loan spell, and Steve Bruce has reportedly spoken to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho about another bid for the former Scunthorpe, Walsall and Doncaster man.
