Aston Villa are set to sign defender Eric Montes from Barcelona on a free transfer in the upcoming days.
The 19-year-old’s current deal with Barca expires at the end of June and he will be leaving the club and it looks like Villa Park will be his next destination.
Montes, who currently plays for Barcelona U19s, will join up with the club’s development squad, an area of the club which is set to go though an overhaul as Villa look to get back to a position where they are bringing players through into the first team on a more regular basis.
The Spaniard is a centre-half by trade but he can also play at right-back or as a holding midfield player and he should be confirmed as a Villa player in the near future.
