Gary Gardner completes Barnsley loan switch

Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner has completed his switch to Barnsley, joining the Yorkshire club on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old has fallen out of favour at Villa Park in recent times, with this loan move aiming to resurrect his career and get him some game time under his belt.

The former England U21 midfielder is no stranger to loan moves. Since joining Aston Villa in 2011, he has spent time on loan at Coventry City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest, with Barnsley the latest side to add to that list.

He has made 45 appearances in his time at Villa, however he has never really managed to tie down a place in the starting line-up.

He joins a Barnsley side who finished a place below Villa in 14th last season, and are consolidating themselves as a Championship side, aiming to start trying to work their way slowly up the league.

Barnsley’s next game is on September 9th against Preston and if you fancy Gardner to get on the score sheet, you could earn yourself a nice profit with a free bet with SkyBet.
