Steve Bruce praises Terry and Chester

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce heaped praise on the performances of John Terry and James Chester in Villa’s 2-0 victory at Preston North End according to The Daily Express.

The clash at Deepdale which saw Villa coming out victorious showed the solidarity of the Aston Villa defence with particular plaudits for centre-backs Terry and Chester.

Bruce said: “I have to say that defensively we were excellent. The two centre-halves were terrific. You’ve got to have a decent defence and all season it gives us a decent platform.”

Villa took the lead against Preston via a James Chester goal, after he headed home a corner before Robert Snodgrass added a second to ensure the three points. It was a performance that has stood out as Aston Villa’s best this season and sends them into the play-off places in the table.

The Villains are now on a run of six wins in their last seven matches and sees them fulfilling their pre-season tag of promotion contenders. Villa’s next match is at home to Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
