Aston Villa remain interested in signing João Palhinha but are unwilling to meet Bayern Munich’s €25million asking price. Villa want João Palhinha on loan with an option to buy, while Bayern continue to push for a permanent sale.
BILD reports that the Midlands club are Bayern’s strongest hope of finding a buyer for the Portugal international. However, the clubs have yet to find an agreement which suits both sides.

Villa’s preferred structure would reduce their immediate financial commitment and allow them to assess Palhinha before making the transfer permanent.
Bayern are reluctant to approve another temporary departure. The German champions want to raise funds through player sales and are seeking around €25million for the midfielder.
Palhinha spent last season on loan at Tottenham, where he rebuilt his reputation after struggling for regular football in Munich. Spurs decided against keeping him permanently, leaving the 31-year-old to return to Bayern for pre-season.
ReadAstonVilla previously reported that Villa’s talks over a loan would continue after claims of an imminent medical were denied. The latest update confirms that interest remains, but no final agreement has been reached.
Palhinha is also attracting attention from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Portugal. He reportedly wants to remain in Europe and stay close to his children, which may strengthen Villa’s position.
Unai Emery has already added João Gomes to his midfield following Youri Tielemans’ departure for Manchester United. Amadou Onana’s long-term injury has also increased Villa’s need for another experienced defensive option.
Aston Villa want João Palhinha, but the proposed loan does not currently meet Bayern’s demands. Further talks will depend on whether either club changes its position before the transfer window closes.
