Steve Bruce has offered an update on Jack Grealish on the eve of the new Championship season.
The midfielder, despite numerous links suggesting he could be on the way out at Villa Park, has appeared in each of Villa’s preseason matches and is slated to start in Monday night’s season opener against Hull City.

Spurs manager Maurizio Pochettino has asked chairman Daniel Levy to secure the signing of the 22-year-old, but it is understood that negotiations have stalled in recent weeks.
Unwilling to meet the asking price set by Villa, Spurs seem content to bide their time.
Manager Steve Bruce offered his thoughts on the situation in a press conference, quoted by Birmingham Live:
There hasn’t been a bid accepted. And to be fair to Dr Tony (Xia), with the club at heart, he didn’t want anyone to just nick the players, even with the financial problems we were in.
We don’t want to lose our best players but every player has their price.
If someone wants to buy our players the owners have to be comfortable with it.
It doesn’t sound like a move is imminent, either:
Spurs haven’t got anywhere near what the owners want to consider.
