Middlesbrough are reportedly set to bid for Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Football Insider are reporting that Boro have turned their attention to the 28-year-old having missed out on Ipswich Town’s Martyn Waghorn, who looks set to join Derby County.
Kodjia joined the Villains from Bristol City in 2016 and managed an impressive 19 goals in his first season with the club.
However, the last 12 months have been much less fruitful for the Ivorian, making only four appearances last campaign having undergone ankle surgery on two occasions.

Kodjia was replaced by Rushian Hepburn-Murphy on 77 minutes last night as Villa kick-started the season with a 3-1 win at Hull City.
Villa boss Steve Bruce will be keen to keep hold of the striker, given that his only other attacking options are Hepburn-Murphy, Scott Hogan and youngster Keinan Davis.
Middlesbrough sold Patrick Bamford to Leeds United earlier in the window and look set to lose Adama Traore to Wolves, meaning manager Tony Pulis faces a race against time to secure attacking replacements ahead of the deadline.
