John Terry is set to sign a one-year contract with Spartak Moscow.
The former England captain spent last year with Aston Villa, and was instrumental in the campaign that took the Midlanders to the brink of promotion back to the Premier League.
Despite not signing a new contract with Villa, the club remained hopeful of signing Terry, and the central defender’s recent glowing comments about the club and Steve Bruce could only have further inspired hope.

However, the 37-year-old is preparing to move abroad for his next chapter.
Sky Sports report the centre-half is preparing to sign a contract with Spartak, in a move that will see the Champions League winner play European football again.
Europa league contestants, Spartak will play Rapid Wien, Villarreal, and Rangers in the group stage.
Villa will now have to have abandon whatever slim hope remained of securing Terry for another season.
