Ross McCormack can’t catch a break.
The Aston Villa striker – on loan at the Central Coast Mariners – has suffered a knee injury that is expected to keep him on the sideline for up to five weeks.
Joining in September, the 32-year-old has made just five appearances down under, scoring a singular goal.
Having fallen out of first-team contention under Steve Bruce, there is no indication that the journeyman is wanted back in the West Midlands by new boss Dean Smith.

Quoted in the Birmingham Mail, Central Coast manager Mike Mulvey said:
Ross McCormack is probably out for about four to five weeks, he’s tweaked his knee,
… he faces at least a month on the sidelines after tweaking his knee, an injury that could need surgery.
McCormack appeared just twice for Villa before being shipped off to Australia, with both games coming in the League Cup.
The Scot’s troubles rumble on.
