Aston Villa have made a late run at bolstering their midfield on transfer deadline day, with a bid for Andreas Samaris of Benfica.
Portuguese outlet Record (translated by Sport Witness) claim that the Midlanders have made what they refer to as “an attractive offer” for the 29-year-old.
The contract was said to be for two-and-a-half years, which would have seen him earn €4 million over the period.
However, Record claim that the Greek is not overly keen on joining the tenth placed Championship side.

Despite only making six appearances in all competitions for Benfica so far this season, Samaris is seemingly cautious when it comes to picking where to play, after rejecting another offer from Newcastle United of the Premier League.
It was not revealed how much Dean Smith’s side were ready to pay by way of a transfer fee, or if the club will try and improve their offer to Samaris at the 11th hour.
