Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has apologised to Nelson Oliveira and stated he feels awful after accidentally stamping on the striker’s face during Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Reading.
Mings was making his debut for Villa following his loan move from Bournemouth in January and caught Oliveira in the 73rd minute at the Madjeski.
The striker was taken to hospital with serious facial wounds and a suspected broken nose, after receiving treatment on the pitch, and is expected to need surgery following the collision.
And the on-loan Villa defender took to Twitter to apologise to Oliveira following the game.
Twitter: Absolutely loved wearing the claret and blue today and over the moon with the clean sheet! @AVFCOfficial Feel awful… https://t.co/msZU2ppL1b (@OfficialTM_3)
Mings was involved in a similar incident nearly two years ago when he was suspended for five games for violent conduct following a stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, though the incident with Oliveira was accidental.
