Villa player ratings: Blackburn (H)

Aston Villa made it five wins from their last five matches thanks to a 2-1 win against Blackburn Rovers at Villa Park.

Villa, as to be expected, started off the game on the front foot, and they found themselves ahead in the just the 8th minute when Tammy Abraham found the back of the net to score his 22nd goal of the season.

Dean Smith’s men continued to dominate possession, but they just couldn’t get the second goal that they were after in the first-half. They thought they had it on the stroke of half-time, but El-Ghazi, who tapped the ball home from a yard out, was judged to have been in an offside position.

Blackburn were much better in the second-half, but it was Villa who doubled their lead just after the hour mark when Tyrone Mings headed home a John McGinn set-piece.

Villa probably thought that was the three points in the bag, but  Amari’i Bell pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 73rd minute, to give Villa fans a little scare.

However Villa defended stoutly to ensure that they picked up all three valuable points.

Here are our Villa player ratings for today’s game against Blackburn:
