Dean Smith has praised his Aston Villa side following their club record 10th consecutive league victory and hailed his players as “magnificent” following Monday’s victory over Millwall.
Jonathan Kodjia scored the only goal of the game at Villa Park as Smith’s side dominated proceedings and secured themselves a playoff spot with their record victory.
And Smith revealed his delight following Villa’s 10th successive league win and admitted it is a run of form he did not envisage his side producing after an inconsistent start to the campaign, according to Sports Mole.
If you had asked me 11 games ago would we go and win the next 10 I would have thought you were a little bit crackers. The turning point was half-time at Stoke when I got into the players and we have been excellent since then.

I don’t think until I look back on it I will realise what we have actually done because my focus is still on getting promoted. It is a historical great football club and to be the first manager to have achieved it is something special but we want to continue it. The players have been magnificent throughout. They have set standards and are taking great ownership of what they are doing at the moment.
Villa began their run of 10 consecutive league victories at the beginning of March with a 4-0 win over Derby County; a result which moved them six points adrift of Bristol City who occupied the final playoff position at the time.
Maximum points from every game since then has seen Smith’s side now secure themselves a playoff position with two games remaining, and the Villa boss believes his players are capable of winning all of their remaining games as they push for a return to the Premier League.
They are improving as players and we are improving as a team.We are hoping there are still five more games left for us this season and we are hoping we can win all five.
