Former Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton believes Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish would not improve his former side, should Spurs pursue a move for the midfielder once again this summer.
Grealish has been instrumental for Villa in their run to the play-off final this season, and appeared to commit his long-term future to the club in September last year by signing a new five-year deal, after interest from Tottenham.
Anderton, however, believes Grealish would become a “squad player” rather than a regular starter for Spurs, should the Premier League side reignite their interest in the 23-year-old, the Birmingham Mail report, via SportingBet.

Jack Grealish wouldn’t improve Tottenham’s team and they’ve got better players in his position already. We’ve seen from his performances for Aston Villa this season that he’s a very talented player but he isn’t good enough to walk straight into their starting team. Grealish certainly has the potential to develop into a top, top player and he would fit the Spurs ethos, but if he joins it would very much be as a squad player.
Grealish will lead his Villa side out at Wembley on Monday when they face Derby County in the play-off final.
