According to Football Insider, recently released Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton is closing in on a move to Championship side Wigan Athletic.
The 34-year-old, who can play at left-back or right-back, became a fan favourite at Villa Park, not because he was an outstanding player, but because he always gave his all whenever he pulled on a claret and blue jersey and it was clear that he loved the club.
His fantastic solo goal against local rivals Birmingham City will be one that Villa fans will remember for a very long time.

The former Scotland international was released by Villa when his contract expired at the beginning of June, and it looks like he will be playing for the Lactics next season.
Paul Cook is desperate for defensive reinforcements and bringing in an experienced and capable defender such as Hutton on a free would be a great piece of business.
