Aston Villa and Southampton look set to miss out on the highly sought after Joe Aribo from Charlton this summer, with side Rangers poised to beat rivals Celtic in the race to sign the midfielder.
The midfielder was a key figure for Lee Bowyer’s side last season in Charlton’s promotion to the Championship, making 39 appearances for the Addicks and scoring 10 goals.

Charlton had been hoping to tie the 22-year-old down to a new deal with his current contract set to expire this summer, however according to the Daily Mail, Rangers are favourites to land the midfielder.
Aribo is set to complete a medical with the Scottish Premiership side next week in a deal worth £300,000 in compensation due to the midfielder’s age, and the 22-year-old is expected to sign a four-year deal with Steven Gerrard’s side.
The former Liverpool midfielder is rumoured to have had a big influence on Aribo’s decision to snub the likes of Villa, Saints and Celtic for Rangers.
