Aston Villa look set to rival fellow newly promoted Premier League side Norwich City in the pursuit of Stade de Reims goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign with the Ligue 1 side last season, but speculation over his future had begun after Reims completed the signing of starlet Predrag Rajkovic last weekend.
And according to French outlet L’Equipe, both Villa and Norwich are eyeing a move for the Senegal international who is currently representing his side at the Africa Cup of Nations this summer.

Mendy made 41 appearances for Reims in all competitions last season, keeping 14 clean sheets, and the 27-year-old helped Senegal to a 2-0 win over Tanzania in their opening game of the Cup of Nations on Sunday.
Villa are said to be in the market for a ‘keeper this summer, with the likes of Jack Butland and Neil Etheridge both linked with a move to Villa Park.
