Bundesliga side Cologne have reportedly opened discussions with Club Brugge regarding the signing of Aston Villa target Marvelous Nakamba.
According to reports in Belgium, cited by the Birmingham Mail, Cologne, who earned promotion back to the German top flight last season, have made a first move for the Zimbabwe international.
The holding midfielder has been linked with a summer move to Villa Park, with boss Dean Smith keen to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new campaign.

Villa have already brought in striker Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge and appeared to be ready to spend £20m o the powerful midfielder.
The 25-year-old impressed in Belgium last season and also caught the eye of Newcastle, Watford and Serie A side, Atalanta.
Villa have also been tracking Leeds’ Kavin Phillips, however, the Whites are thought to be demanding a £30m fee for the Englishman, so Smith may well urge the club to launch a formal offer for the impressive Nakamba following the lastest reports.
