Aston Villa are reportedly leading the race to sign unsettled Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka ahead of heavyweight Premier League opposition in Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Slovakia international has been one of Newcastle’s more important players since joining from Sparta Prague back in January 2018 and is the current North East Player of the Year.
According to the Daily Mail though, he’s been unsettled by the sudden departure of Rafa Benitez and contract talks have stalled whilst the club negotiate with Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce.
AS Monaco and Porto are also said to be vying for his signature, with the Magpies valuing him at £15million.
Clubs are rightly looking to take advantage of Newcastle’s current situation, with Man United pursuing midfielder Sean Longstaff, and the arrival of Dubravka would push Villa’s summer spending over £100million.
Dean Smith has been heavily upgrading his squad ahead of a huge campaign back in the top-flight and it’d be a large statement if they can seal this signing too.
