Aston Villa have had a €7m bid for central midfielder Baptiste Santamaria rejected by Angers, as per a report from L’Équipe, via GFFN.
Angers are keen to keep hold of the 24-year-old and with him being tied down at the club until 2022, they hold all the cards.
However, the fact that Villa have made a bid suggests that they believe the player could be interested in a switch to the Premier League and as such, they could look to increase their offer in an attempt to force Angers’ hand.
Santamaria joined Angers from Tours in January 2016 for around €500,000 and he’s been an excellent signing for them.
Fellow Ligue 1 side Lille and Serie A’s Lazio are also said to be interested in the central midfielder but neither have yet made an official offer for Santamaria, but Villa’s move could prompt either club to make an offer of their own.
