Aston Villa have made it through to the last eight of the Carabao Cup thanks to a 2-1 win over local rivals Wolves.
As expected, both managers decided to make a number of changes to the starting XIs that they fielded at the weekend.
Whereas Villa gave their fringe players a go, Wolves’ manager opted to give some match experience to his youngsters.
Villa’s more experienced team dominated from the start and Anwar El Ghazi opened the scoring when he latched on to a great through ball from Henri Lansbury.
Wolves rarely threatened Jed Steer in the Villa goal, but Patrick Cutrone equalised in the second half when Douglas Luiz was caught in possession.
They were only level for three minutes though, as Ahmed Elmohamady converted Lansbury’s corner.
This was how the score stayed and Villa put their name into the pot for the quarter-final draw.
Here are our Villa player ratings from the win over Wolves.
