Marvelous Nakamba has an uncertain future at Aston Villa. He has struggled for form and playing time this season and appears to be surplus to requirements.
The winter transfer window opens in just a matter of weeks and there is reason to believe Villa might entertain offers for the 26-year-old, but Ashley Preece of Birmingham Live is backing Nakamba to stay until the summer.
He claimed: “Marvelous Nakamba is another player who’s rarely featured. Villa aren’t, though, blessed with too many options in central midfield with the Zimbabwean set to stick around until the summer at the earliest.”
Nakamba joined Villa from Club Brugge in 2019 and has gone on to make 39 appearances in all competitions. The 26-year-old was a regular in his debut season at Villa Park, featuring 34 times across the board, but has since fallen out of favour.

Nakamba has only made five appearances in 2020/21 and finds himself behind Douglas Luiz, John McGinn, Ross Barkley and Conor Hourihane in the pecking order. Indeed, he has just 13 minutes of Premier League football to his name this season, so his long-term future is definitely up in the air.
That Preece only believes he will stay in January because Villa aren’t blessed with a lot of midfield options speaks volumes. The Zimbabwe international is hanging on by a thread in the Midlands.
In other news, Ashley Preece casts doubt over the future of another Aston Villa outcast.
