Aston Villa are on the hunt for a striker in January as Keinan Davis has been short of form and playing time while Wesley Moraes is still on the recovery trail from a lengthy knee injury, but The Athletic‘s Gregg Evans has ruled out any chances of going back in for Tammy Abraham.
The 23-year-old Chelsea striker, who Rio Ferdinand has called ‘Drogba-esque’, scored 26 goals and provided three assists in 40 games on loan at Aston Villa in 2018/19, but he is a regular at Stamford Bridge now.
Abraham has scored seven goals (five in the Premier League) and supplied six assists in 20 games this season, playing in all but two of Chelsea’s matches in all competitions (Transfermarkt), so they seem unlikely to sell him.
Not only do the Blues want to keep Abraham, Evans claimed that his value has skyrocketed since his return to the club from Villa Park, therefore making him unattainable for the Midlands outfit.

Dean Smith will be happy with Ollie Watkins’ debut season at Villa Park – eight goals and one assist in 15 games so far – but there isn’t anyone prolific who can replace him in case of injury.
Davis has only amassed 38 minutes of Premier League football this season while Wesley hasn’t featured since January, so Villa don’t have much centre-forward backup.
Even if Abraham is out of reach, Smith may need to address that position somehow in next month’s transfer window.
In other news, Gregg Evans has outlined Aston Villa’s latest transfer stance on one Bundesliga target.
