Aston Villa drew 1-1 with Chelsea on Monday and John McGinn was hailed by many supporters for his “superb performance” at Stamford Bridge.
Nobody drew as many fouls or created more chances than the 26-year-old, while only Matt Targett had more touches and only Matty Cash and Douglas Luiz turned over possession more during the 90 minutes (WhoScored). McGinn was back to his best last night and fans rightly hailed his efforts.
The Scottish international played for the full match at Stamford Bridge, had 60 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 76.7% of his passes, created two chances, had one shot, whipped in two crosses, won three tackles, blocked one shot, made one interception, had two successful dribbles, made one clearance and won six free kicks (WhoScored).
McGinn has made 14 Premier League appearances this season, scoring one goal and supplying four assists. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent at times but his performance against Chelsea was arguably his best of the campaign so far.
These Villa supporters took to Twitter to show their appreciation for the midfielder’s efforts against Frank Lampard’s Blues:

McGinn’s stamina is ridiculous. One of many very good signings by Villa. Konsa and Cash also brilliant, fairly under the radar, purchases. #avfc
