The last time Aston Villa beat Manchester United at Villa Park in the league

Aston Villa host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon at Villa Park and could go ninth in the table with a win. Unfortunately, the Villans don’t have the best head-to-head record against United and haven’t managed a win over them in any competition for more than ten years.

Read Aston Villa looked into when Villa last beat the Red Devils on home soil in the Premier League and had to go back even further. The Midlands outfit bested United in the third round of League Cup in 1999 but haven’t won in the league at home for 26 years.

On August 19 in 1995, Villa beat United 3-1 in their own backyard, courtesy of goals from Ian Taylor, Mark Draper and Dwight Yorke. David Beckham pulled a goal back for United late on, but Villa secured all three points. They finished fourth in the Premier League that season with 63 points from 38 games.

United won the title, finishing four points clear of Newcastle United, 11 points ahead of Liverpool and 19 points clear of Villa. Nevertheless, this is a duck the Midlands outfit need to end and they come into the encounter off the back of a win and a draw from their last two games.

In other news, Jack Grealish made his Aston Villa debut on this day in 2014
