Aston Villa suffered their third consecutive Premier League defeat on Friday, losing 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, and Emiliano Buendia was one of many players criticised on social media for his poor performance.
The 24-year-old, who has given a 3/10 by Birmingham Live, hasn’t exactly set the place alight since his big-money move over the summer and his latest drab showing resulted in Dean Smith hooking him midway into the second half.
Against Arsenal, Buendia played for 67 minutes, had 48 touches, completed 76.7% of his 30 passes, had one shot, created two chances, failed to whip in an accurate cross, had three tackles, made one successful dribble and had two interceptions.
Smith hauled off the uncapped Argentine for Jacob Ramsey and he’ll have a decision to make on whether to start Buendia against West Ham United on October 31. The wide-man has scored just one goal in seven Premier League games since joining from Norwich City over the summer, leaving a lot to be desired.
Villa paid a club-record £38m for the 24-year-old but aren’t getting their money’s worth.
