Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has an uncertain future as he’s failing to hold down a starting place under Dean Smith this season. The 27-year-old still has three years remaining on his deal, but Football Insider say Newcastle United could lure him away from Villa Park with their lucrative resources.
Nakamba joined the Midlands outfit on a five-year deal from Club Brugge in 2019 and has gone on to make 57 appearances in all competitions. The Zimbabwean international featured heavily in his first season at Villa, but he’s been somewhat of an afterthought ever since – 9/38 PL starts in 2020/21, 1/9 PL starts in 2021/22.
Newcastle are reportedly willing to pay £15m to procure his signature as they believe he’s an excellent ball-winner who can turn over possession frequently, but fans on social media are mixed.
Nakamba has featured in seven games across the board this season, but the majority of his appearances are from the bench. The 27-year-old has found himself behind Douglas Luiz and John McGinn in the pecking order, so might he be tempted to join the Newcastle project?
