Wesley Moraes has an uncertain future at Aston Villa after losing his place under Dean Smith and being loaned out, but his temporary stint away from Villa Park isn’t going to plan.
Het Nieuwsblad (h/t Sport Witness) say the 25-year-old could cut his loan move at Club Brugge short after a less-than-impressive stint at the Jan Breydel Stadium, opening the door to a move elsewhere in January. Fans on social media had a mixed reaction to the news.
Wesley, who played for Brugge before joining Villa, has made only 6/25 appearances in all competitions for the Belgian outfit this season, spending more time on the bench or out of the matchday squad.
The Brazilian international has amassed just 105 minutes of playing time from a possible 2250, so it’s easy to see why he wants to leave. Villa may not have a place for him given Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings are ahead in the pecking order, however, so it remains to be seen where Wesley could end up.
The 25-year-old was a regular upon his arrival at Villa but suffered a long-term injury midway through his debut season that has resulted in him being deemed surplus to requirements. He’s fit again but not exactly firing on all cylinders and Het Nieuwsblad say that’s led his decision to want out.
