Aston Villa have reportedly made a strong move for Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta as Unai Emery continues to shape his squad.
Italian journalist Marco Conterio reports that Villa are pushing for the 23-year-old, who has become one of Udinese’s most interesting midfield profiles.
Atta is under contract with Udinese until 2029 after joining permanently from Metz. Transfermarkt lists him as a 23-year-old central midfielder who stands at 1.89m and has also represented France at Under-20 level.
Villa’s interest fits the club’s wider midfield planning. Read Aston Villa has already looked at how Unai Emery and Monchi have been working through a summer squad rebuild, with midfield depth still one of the areas to watch.
Atta Fits Villa’s Physical Midfield Profile
Atta would give Villa a different type of midfield option.
He has size, athleticism and Serie A experience, while still being young enough to develop further under Emery. StatMuse credits him with five goals and four assists across 59 Udinese appearances.
That balance of physical upside and production explains why he has drawn wider interest. Reports around Italy have previously linked him with other Premier League clubs, while Udinese are unlikely to lose him cheaply after tying him down to a long contract.
For Villa, this looks like a serious recruitment-track move rather than a casual name on a list.
Emery already has senior midfield quality, but Villa need enough legs and control to handle domestic and European demands. Atta would not arrive as a finished answer, but he could give the squad another powerful ball-carrying profile.
The next step is whether Villa’s strong move becomes a formal agreement with Udinese.
