Morgan Rogers has revealed whafter completing his £117million transfer to Chelsea. The England international identified Xabi Alonso’s playing style as a major influence, while the opportunity to reunite with Cole Palmer also appealed to him.
Rogers leaves after recording 31 goals and 29 assists across 125 appearances for the club. 23-year-old has signed a Chelsea contract until 2033. He previously described the London club’s project and direction under Alonso as key reasons behind his decision.
However, Rogers has now provided further detail about the conversations which convinced him to leave Villa Park.

Speaking during his first Chelsea interview, Rogers said Alonso’s philosophy fits how he views football.
The attacker wants the freedom to express himself and believes Chelsea’s new manager can provide the right environment. Rogers described Alonso’s involvement as a “massive factor” behind the transfer. ers also revealed his excitement about playing alongside Palmer. The pair first met through England’s youth setup before spending time together at Manchester City.
Palmer has regularly contacted Rogers about the move, with both players keen to share a club dressing room again. Their friendship and shared celebration will now continue at Stamford Bridge.
