Evann Guessand’s potential move to Trabzonspor move could offer Aston Villa another chance to resolve the forward’s uncertain future.
The Turkish club have placed the Ivory Coast international high on their attacking shortlist and are expected to approach Villa over an initial loan agreement.
Guessand joined Villa from Nice in August 2025 in a package worth up to €35million. However, he struggled to establish himself under Unai Emery and spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace.
Palace held an option to sign the 25-year-old permanently but decided against activating it. Guessand is therefore due to return to Villa, where his contract runs until 2030.
Evann Guessand to Trabzonspor talks expected
Turkish outlet Günebakış reports that Trabzonspor want a versatile attacker capable of playing from the right or through the middle.
The report claims Guessand did not find the environment he wanted in English football, while Villa believe he failed to meet expectations during his first season.
Trabzonspor consider a permanent transfer too expensive and are preparing to seek a loan instead. Talks with Villa are expected to begin as the Turkish club attempt to find an agreement.
Villa must decide whether another temporary departure offers enough value. A loan could rebuild Guessand’s confidence and protect his transfer value, but the club may prefer a permanent exit after already allowing him to spend six months at Palace.
Emery continues to assess his attacking options during pre-season. Leon Bailey struggled during the recent defeat in Portugal, earning 4/10 in ReadAstonVilla’s player ratings against Porto.
An Evann Guessand to Trabzonspor agreement is not yet close. The reported interest nevertheless gives Villa a possible solution for a player who currently faces an uncertain route back into Emery’s plans.
