Crespo has joined from La Liga side Cordoba for an undisclosed fee after completing a medical at Bodymoor Heath today.
Tim Sherwood speaking to avfc.co.uk told of how Crespo is a player “on our radar for sometime” and how his experience will help the side progress.
Crespo has played for several different teams throughout the La Liga and Serie A including Sevilla and Bologna.
The 28 year old also played for the Spanish u21’s during his senior career.
Jose follows a continental contingency through the doors at Bodymoor Heath this summer, with the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Ayew joining Villa this summer.
Crespo can play all across the defence – but predominantly plays as a full back.
Crespo is joined by fellow Spaniard Carles Gil at Villa Park this season, and it seems AVTV is ready to bring the two players together.
