Grealish Needs A Free Role
Jack Grealish was given the license to roam by Villa manager, Tim Sherwood and it paid dividends with the 19-year old terrorising the Notts County defence – laying on two goals in the process. Grealish looked composed as ever and a class above every other player on the pitch. You can see why fans have pinned so many hopes on the 19-year old.
Sinclair Needs A Starting role
Scott Sinclair scored a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest in pre-season and he did it again with a hat-trick against Forest’s rivals in the League Cup. Granted both hat-tricks have been against lower league opposition, but he carries a real threat. A threat that the likes of Gabriel Agbonlahor have not brought to the side yet this season.
Sunderland is a big game already for Villa and with Sinclair in a good patch it is time for him to step up in the Premier League.
Traore Needs No Time
Adama Traore started against Notts County and boy he didn’t let Sherwood down. The new summer signing tore the County defence apart with his stellar physique helping him bulldoze his way past players.
Traore took his goal well and played exactly how you would expect a Barcelona graduate to play. Unfortunately the 19-year old went off injured in the second-half. Worrying.
And Finally
Blues In The Next Round
If you asked any Villa fan after the game, “Who do you want to face in the next round?” 99% of fans would have said local rivals, Birmingham City. A side that four years ago knocked Villa out of the same competition in the semi-finals of 2011.
Revenge will be in the mind of Villa veteran, Gabriel Agbonlahor who always does the business in local derbies. Local boy, Jack Grealish will understand more than any player how much the game means to the Villa faithful.
