Aston Villa face Matty Cash injury concern after Poland defeat

Aston Villa have a fresh fitness concern over Matty Cash after the defender reportedly came off injured during Poland’s defeat by Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday.

RotoWire, citing Villa reporter John Townley, reports that Cash was limping as he left the pitch, although he was able to walk off unaided.

Polish outlet Goal.pl also reports that injury forced his withdrawal.

The reports do not establish the nature or severity of the problem, or whether he will be available against Brentford on Saturday.

Matty Cash concern follows recent injury return

Cash had only recently returned from the muscular problem that interrupted his start to the season.

He played the second half of Villa’s victory over Tottenham before joining Poland for their international fixtures, as detailed in our report on his return to international duty.

The latest concern leaves his fitness as a question for Unai Emery before domestic football resumes.

Villa host Brentford on 10 October, with kick-off at 3pm. Further information is needed before Cash can be considered unavailable for that game.

Poland lost Monday’s Nations League match 1-0, with Ivan Bašić scoring an 84th-minute penalty.

For Villa supporters, the immediate issue is whether Cash’s withdrawal will interrupt his comeback. The available reports provide no recovery timetable.
