2 Good 2 Bad – West Brom

2 Good 2 Bad – West Brom

Matt Lynch takes a look at the two good and two bad from the Villans 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League yesterday afternoon at Villa Park.

Two Good

Can two good things even be picked from that game? I can’t pick a positive from the performance is was the worst I’ve seen a Tim Sherwood side play. Worse than the FA Cup final. For that reason, I will give a further two bad things from the game. How cheerful.

Two bad (four bad)

  1. The tactics were wrong again from Tim Sherwood. Gabby Agbonlahor was playing a central role against two towering West Brom defenders. Agbonlahor was poor, but it is sort of understandable when Villa are playing direct high balls which he has no chance of reaching.
  2. Gestede jumps like the average man. Gestede may be tall and supposedly powerful, but he hardly jumped like a salmon against the Baggies yesterday. He offered nothing up top.
  3. Westwood’s drilled corners are getting us no where. The corners produced by Westwood are diabolical. He drills the corners in like a dart. No chance for someone to get a clean header on it.
  4. An issue in goal is one that will cause any football fan concern. Guzan looks shaky. He looks more likely to catch a cold than catch a shot cleanly. It is an issue that needs resolving.
