France U21 1-0 Northern Ireland
Jordan Amavi’s played as France beat Ireland 1-0 in the Euro qualifier, with a late winner from Bordeaux starlet Enzo Crivelli. Although, there are worrying times for The Villans Amavi, was stretchered off after 72 minutes.
The left-back looked like he had his right foot stuck in the turf, as he went to make a challenge near the touchline. It was a nasty fall by Amavi, as he looks like he could have ruptured his knee ligaments.
New Villa boss Remi Garde, still awaits the result on the scan Amavi has took after the horrific injury, and Villa could be without Amavi for the rest of the season, if the results come in negative for the player.
Chile 1-1 Colombia
Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez, who has been in good form, played 55 minutes for his country, as they drew 1-1 with tough opposition, Chile. Arturo Vidal headed in the opener in the first half of stoppage time, before Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, equalized with around 20 minutes to go.
This was round three in the World Cup South America qualifying tournament, which now leaves his country, in 6th place before going into the game against Argentina.
Benin 2-1 Burkina Faso
Rudy Gestede led the line for the first half for his country Benin, in the 2-1 victory against Burkina Faso. Rudy Gestede also picked up an injury on international duty, it has been heard that it was knock to the knee which stopped him from carrying on into the second half.
Benin edged what was an important score line going into the second leg of this World Cup qualifier. Remi Garde now has another key player to worry about with the injury Gestede has picked up, as he could be without Jordan Amavi and Rudy Gestede when his side returns for Premier League football next week.
Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Republic of Ireland
This contest was battled out an awful foggy night in Bosnia, and the game was fortunate to go the full 90 minutes, as neither side could really get a grip late on in the shocking conditions. Although, the goals came in the last period of the match, where Robbie Brady’s strike put the Irish in the lead on the 82nd minute, only to see ex-Manchester City goalscorer, Edin Dzeko, equalize three minutes later.
Villa defender Ciaran Clark, played the full 90 minutes, and put in a fine performance for his country, and he will be hoping to do the same in the second leg, on Monday night.
The two sides contested the 1-1 draw as a result, and it now leaves Republic of Ireland only needing just a win or a goalless draw on Monday, to seal a place in the European Championship, in France, next summer.
Madagascar 2-2 Senegal
Idrissa Gueye’s Senegal side, fought back to 2-2, after avoiding a shock defeat to the hands of Madagascar. This was the first leg of there World Cup qualifier between these two, and goals from Moussa Konate, who halved the deficit on 70 minutes, before Southampton forward, Sadio Mane levelled with 10 minutes remaining.
Gana played the full 90 minutes in this fortunate draw for his country, as they will hope to play much better in the second leg on Thursday.
Comoros 0-0 Ghana
Jordan Ayew and his brother who plays for Swansea, Andre, couldn’t help their side edge past Comoros, as it ended in a frustrating 0-0 between the two countries. Furthermore, the two brothers playing the whole match, they both were a real threat towards the opposition, as they threatened on numerous occasions throughout the game.
This World Cup qualifier is also played over two matches, and Ghana will be hoping to break the deadlock in the second leg, on Tuesday.
USA 6-1 St Vincent and the Grenadines
Brad Guzan played the whole match, as USA opened up their 2018 World Cup qualifying with a 6-1 victory over St Vincent and the Grenadines. St Vincent and the Grenadines actually took the lead after five minutes, only for USA to charge past them for the rest of the game.
ViGuzan had little to do except pick the ball from the net in that fifth minute, which credit to St Vincent and the Grenadines, was a superb goal. Although, Brad Guzan is rumoured to be replaced for the other World Cup qualifier they have on Tuesday, against Trinidad and Tobago.
