Italian Keeper Salvatore Sirigu is in the middle of a battle between Aston Villa and Newcastle United, with both teams wanting to improve their goalkeeping options according to Joe Short of the Express.
With Brad Guzan performing questionably under Tim Sherwood and with short goalkeeping options at Aston Villa.
However, with Newcastle having a goalkeeping issue of their own with Tim Krul injured for the season, relying on youth players for back up it seems that Newcastle will go toe to toe with Aston Villa for the Italians signature.

Sirigu has fallen out of favour with his current club PSG, who have recently signed Kevin Trapp in the summer who has won the number 1 shirt in Paris.
The 28-year-old keeper is a full Italian international, appearing 15 times – mainly playing understudy to Gigi Buffon. He has also played over 100 games for PSG after transferring from Palermo in 2011
