Aston Villa’s forgotten players could still make a return in a claret and blue shirt with Remi Garde expected to assess Libor Kozak and Gary Gardner in training game against Fleetwood Town at Bodymoor Heath later today.
Libor Kozak has had a torrid time since joining The Villans from Lazio in 2013. The Czech international has been plagued by injuries limiting him to only 14 first team appearance for The Villans.
His last appearance in a Villa shirt came at the start of 2014 on New Years Day, when he broke his leg.
Meanwhile Gary Gardner rejuvenated his Villa career while out on loan last season at Nottingham Forest and Brighton, but suffered from a horrific tackle in a pre-season friendly against Swindon Town which has limited his first-team involvement so far at Villa Park this term.
Remi Garde speaking to AVFC Official said, “I need to see some of the players on the full pitch in an 11 v 11 environment, which I haven’t had the occasion to, until now.”
Hope for the Villa faithful – Matt Lynch Speaks
Libor Kozak has had quite a horrific time at Villa so far. Tim Sherwood said that the former-Lazio man would play a vital part in Villa’s side this season – that was not to be.
The Villans need a goalscorer and seemingly Kozak could be that man if Remi Garde gives him a chance. Meanwhile for Gary Gardner it is a welcome return for a man who clearly has a lot to offer to the side.
