Micah Richards has said that some of his fellow teammates do not go ‘the extra mile’ for The Villans in an interview with John Percy from The Telegraph.
In the interview, Richards holds back nothing when discussing Villa’s current plight telling Percy that The Villans ‘are too easy to play against’ and that the side has ‘too many nice players’. He said Villa haven’t got the players who have the, ‘mentality to not lose the game’.
Amongst the interview the following statement may shock or not shock fans when Richards said that some players amongst the Villa ranks are probably thinking they can get move next summer if ‘Villa are relegated.’ before saying how Aston Villa are a club with ‘great tradition’ and that being with the Midlands side is a ‘massive chance’.
The former-Manchester City man went on to say that the players need to show they are the ‘next Benteke’ and that departed players such as Benteke and Delph are not needed anymore.
Happiness at Villa
“Coming here was a massive relief for me and, to be honest, apart from the situation we’re in, I’ve enjoyed every single minute. I knew this wasn’t going to be easy but I still didn’t think it would be this tough.”
