Ahead of his side’s hugely challenging FA Cup fourth round tie against Manchester City on Saturday, Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has revealed in an interview with Villa’s in-house media team that he has a strong admiration for one City player in particular – David Silva.
The Spanish playmaker has been a key asset to City’s side over the years, displaying exceptional talent and vision that has helped his side to several titles during his tenure at the club, catching the eye of many; including Westwood.
Since he arrived at Villa Park, the 25-year-old has been in the presence of some exceptional talent from all across the top four, with some challenging opponents coming up against him. However none have been more challenging, in Westwood’s opinion, than the tricky Spanish midfield maestro.

David Silva is by far the toughest opponent I’ve faced. Ever since I’ve played in the Premier League I’ve thought the same. He’s like a ghost at times, you don’t know where he is. He’s a top player.
There is no doubt that when the pair go head to head on Saturday, a huge task will be at hand for Westwood and his Villa team-mates, as they will look to cause a massive upset against the title hopefuls to shed some more positivity over their dismal season to date.
Can Villa get a result against City?
