Ex-Villa striker Chris Sutton has labelled the current Villa team a ‘disgrace’ after Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Chelsea at Villa Park.
Sutton, who joined Villa in October 2006 and played eight games for Villa whilst scoring one goal, also said that Villa should appoint a manager as soon as possible.
The Birmingham Mail reports Sutton as saying:
The way Villa played at the weekend you would have thought they were all on shisha pipes.
They have been disgraceful.
The 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea was Villa’s seventh consecutive defeat and means that relegation to the Championship could be confirmed next weekend, if Villa lose to Bournemouth and Norwich pick up one or more points away to Crystal Palace.

Sutton was also adamant that Villa should look to bring in a new manager as soon as possible, in order to see who they would like to keep at Villa Park next season and who they would like to get rid off.
I think they need to get a new manager in now and start building.
Whether Villa can then offload players in the summer.
There will be a lot of mercenaries there who will want to move on.
It might not be that easy, though, hence why I think it makes sense to get someone in now.
Be ruthless, and start to build for next season.
However, it seems unlikely that a new manager will be brought in before the end of the season, with the Birmingham Mail also reporting that caretaker manager Eric Black has brought in former Rangers youth team coach Jimmy Sinclair to assist him.
Do you agree with Sutton’s thoughts?
