Following the confirmation of Roberto Di Matteo’s appointment as Villa manager, it’s time to look at the key issues the former Chelsea manager needs to address.
As a result of mis-management at Villa over the last few years, a number of issues have arisen at Villa Park and have simply been ignored by the previous incumbents of the Villa hot seat.
Of course the extent to which Di Matteo will be able to rectify the issues will be dependent on whether Tony Xia’s takeover is completed after passing the fit and proper person’s test, with the promised millions likely to make Di Matteo’s task at Villa Park much easier.
Di Matteo, who has previously led West Bromwich Albion to promotion from the Championship in 2010, had been out of work since May 2015 after he resigned as manager of Schalke following a poor run of form.
